High up there on the list of the most significant dates in sports history is July 10, 1999. That's the day that the United States Women's Soccer National Team beat China to win the Women's World Cup. They pulled off the feat on their home turf, at the Rose Bowl, before a frenzied crowd of 90,000-plus fans, and they did it in style, defeating their Asian counterparts in a nail-biter shootout as Brandi Chastain put the ball in the net. This soccer ball has been hand signed by 20 members of the 1999 U.S. Women's Soccer National Team, including Michelle Akers, Brandi Chastain, Tracy Ducar, Lorrie Fair, Joy Fawcett, Danielle Fotopoulous, Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm, Sara Hess (Whalen), Tisha Hoch (Venturini), Kristine Lilly, Shannon MacMillan, Tiffany Milbrett, Cindy Cone (Parlow), Christie Rampone (Pearce), Tiffany Sahaydak (Roberts), Briana Scurry, Kate Markgraf (Sobrerto), Saskia Webber, and Tony DiCicco (Head Coach).
